How to Care for Your Organic Cotton Underwear

(Because your undies deserve VIP treatment)

You’ve invested in organic cotton underwear—yay, you! Not only is it kinder to your skin, but it’s also gentler on the planet. But here’s the thing: even the softest, purest fabric won’t stay that way forever if you treat it like a rag. Organic cotton is like a good friendship—it thrives when you give it a little TLC.

Let’s make sure your undies last as long as possible (and keep feeling amazing while they do).

Wash Cool Stay Cool Hot water might seem like the best way to “deep clean,” but it’s actually a fast track to elastic destruction and fabric wear. Keep it chill—literally—by washing in cold or lukewarm water. Your underwear (and electricity bill) will thank you.

2.      Gentle Is the New Strong Harsh detergents and bleach? Big nope. They can weaken fibers, fade colors, strip away natural softness, and damage the environment. We at Maayu don't use Bleach, why would you ? Go for a mild, eco-friendly detergent. Bonus points if it’s fragrance-free and biodegradable—better for your skin and the environment.

3.     Skip the Spin Cycle Drama Organic cotton loves a gentle ride. Opt for the delicate cycle to avoid unnecessary stretching or pilling. If your machine has a “hand wash” mode, even better. Your underwear will stay in shape, and you won’t have to deal with misshapen waistbands.

4.      Air-Dry Like a Pro Tumble dryers are basically cotton’s arch-nemesis. Heat can shrink and weaken fibers, so let your undies breathe. Hang them up, lay them flat, or clip them on a drying rack. Bonus: fresh air drying makes them smell like sunshine. Sun drying is your best friend ( it helps bleach the stains out naturally)

5.     Store Smart Resist the urge to cram your underwear into an overstuffed drawer. Give them room to breathe. Storing in a clean, dry space will keep them fresher for longer.

6.     Treat Stains Kindly Life happens. If you get a stain, soak it in cool water ASAP, then gently rub with a bit of mild soap. Avoid scrubbing like you’re sanding wood—that’s a one-way ticket to damaged fibers.

Why All This Fuss? Because organic cotton isn’t treated with synthetic chemicals, it’s more sensitive to rough handling—but that’s what makes it so skin-friendly. The payoff? Proper care keeps it soft, breathable, and beautiful for years.

At Maayu, We’re in It for the Long Run We make our underwear to last—no synthetic fibers, no toxic dyes, no gimmicks. Just pure comfort that stands the test of time when you treat it right.

Clothes are your 1st environment. Treat it well

Think of it as a long-term relationship: respect it, and it’ll love you back.
